Biography

As President & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) for the past eight years, and Chief Operating Officer for the prior eight, William D. Talbert III, CDME has distinguished himself as a highly respected visitor industry and community leader. Talbert's sixteen years of experience at the GMCVB include major accomplishments such as preparing successful bids for three POW WOW's, four Super Bowls, the Summit of the Americas , Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) Annual meeting, and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) World Education Conference. He also spearheaded passage of the county's Food and Beverage tax to fund the GMCVB's advertising budget, negotiated inter-local government funding agreements; and facilitated the successful re-branding of Miami .

Talbert distinguished himself as an industry leader by playing an integral role in a successful campaign for taxi reform in Miami , and in 2001 led the GMCVB as the first Bureau in the country after 9/11 in the market with a fully funded post 9/11 message.

He is the Chair of Destination Marketing Association International (formerly known as the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus or IACVB), Past Chair of the IACVB Foundation Board of Trustees, Past Chair of the Florida Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (FACVB), and a board member of numerous community and industry organizations.

Talbert holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University and bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida . He is married to Cindy McCall Talbert and has a daughter Aimee.
